Under the direction of the Manager, responsible for monitoring and reconciling the department’s general ledger (GL) accounts, processing entries to support daily functions, and invoice and expense reimbursement reviews.
- Responsible for daily and monthly general ledger reconciliations including researching and resolving outstanding items. Prepares necessary general journal entries for daily functions and operations. Prepares expense accrual and amortization entries and works closely with the business unit and the Controller’s Division to maintain an understanding of outstanding balances. Prepares tax and other special reports as requested for financial and management reporting purposes.
- Performs daily review of invoices and expense reimbursements for processing. Researches and responds to various inquiries from internal and external customers and vendors.
- Assists the Manager with monitoring invoice submissions and workload assignments to the staff. Assists Accounts Payable assistants with payment processing as needed.
- Serves as a resource and provides training and assistance to business units in the proper submission of invoices, expense reports, and accrual requests.
- Manages compliance with the Bank’s Information Provided by Entity (IPE) policy and other data governance policies. Responsible for performing pre- and post-implementation testing related to the Accounts Payable application upgrades and enhancements. Assists with gathering documentation and support for various internal and external audits
Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, and Access) or similar software. Relational database knowledge, strong spreadsheet proficiency and analytical skillset required.
- Requires a strong working knowledge of accounting principles and practices, as well as a firm understanding of GL processing, and other relevant matters. Must be capable of reviewing GL accounts, reconciliations, suspense items, and other accounting-related transactions to identify issues and exposures relative to financial statement impact and internal controls.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to conduct formal meetings. Must have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to develop effective solutions that consider efficiency, internal controls, and impact to financial results. Requires the ability to exercise sound judgment. Must also possess a positive customer service attitude in dealing with internal and external customers. Able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as needed or assigned.
