The men and women of United States Seafoods share an uncommon lifestyle, working on the Bering Sea and the North Pacific Ocean off of the coast of Alaska. Most of the employees of US Seafoods are seagoing personnel who work and live onboard one of the company’s fishing vessels. Crew members work 7 days a week for 12-18 hours per day performing strenuous manual labor without a day off for several weeks at a time.
United States Seafoods currently has an opening for a Mate to perform work on a scientific charter in the Gulf of Alaska and Eastern Bering Sea for three (3) legs from late May to late August, 2026.
The Mate must be a USCG Licensed Mate for 1600 tons or greater, and have of minimum of three (3) years of bottom trawl fishing experience as a mate.
The Mate shall be competent in the use of modern navigational and fish-detecting equipment and be skilled in rigging and repairing bottom trawls.
Experience conducting oceanographic/surface trawl research surveys is highly desirable.
