The Application Security Engineer, Privacy role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining privacy-enhancing features within applications to protect user data and ensure compliance with legal frameworks.
Responsibilities:
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining privacy-enhancing features within applications to protect user data and comply with legal frameworks
- Conducting security assessments and identifying vulnerabilities
- Improving system defenses and collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Contributing to creating privacy-compliant designs and ensuring data security across operations
Requirements:
- Knowledge of application security and privacy best practices, including threat modeling and vulnerability management
- Proficiency in secure coding principles and tools used for code analysis
- Experience with privacy standards, frameworks, and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
- Understanding of authentication protocols, encryption techniques, and data protection measures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate security risks
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, PMs, and legal experts
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Relevant certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CIPP, are a plus
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, CIPP, or similar security and privacy credentials
- Experience working with privacy engineering, data governance, or secure system architecture
- Familiarity with security practices in AI-enabled or data-intensive systems
