IT Associates is a well-known IT Managed Services Provider seeking a Technical Project Manager to support a major government client through a large-scale data center migration and infrastructure modernization. The role involves leading project planning, coordinating activities across technical teams, and ensuring compliance with project management best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Lead technical project planning, scheduling, RAID tracking, and delivery execution for data center migration and cloud modernization efforts
- Coordinate activities across compute, storage, networking, VMware, and cloud engineering teams
- Support governance, reporting cadence, and integration across multiple PMs and technical leads
- Manage scope, risks, dependencies, change control, and documentation in a MSP environment within the structured PMO
- Ensure adherence to project management best practices, change management processes, and delivery methodologies
- Provide clear, executive‑level status reporting to both client leadership and internal management
- Drive cross‑functional collaboration with architects, operations, security, and external vendors
- Ensure audit‑ready project documentation and compliance with government sector requirements
Requirements:
- 6–10+ years of experience in Project management including experience in managing technical infrastructure or data center migration projects
- Strong technical understanding in Open Systems, VMware, server/storage/networking technologies, and cloud migration
- Previous work within a IT outsourcing or Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment strongly desired
- Proven success leading complex infrastructure modernization efforts, including: Data center relocations/separations, Greenfield builds, migrations to Cloud, transformation initiatives
- Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure components: Servers and hardware platforms, Networking and connectivity, VMware and virtualization platforms, Operating systems (Linux/UNIX/Windows) and Cloud
- Experience supporting government clients or highly regulated industries like healthcare preferred
- Excellent communication skills with ability to present at the senior management level
- Strong proficiency in risk management, change management, and structured delivery frameworks
- Understanding of ITIL and ITSM principles would be needed
- Mainframe projects will be great to have
- PMP or equivalent project certification beneficial but not required
