Lead Software Engineer

Spendwise is a growing company working on innovative solutions for how businesses manage their spending. They are seeking a Lead Software Engineer with strong experience in Ruby on Rails to lead development, build new products and features, and manage other developers.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of our products
• Build new products and features and optimize existing ones
• Manage, mentor and guide other developers
• Collaborate with team members across various functions
• Oversee code quality, perform code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices
• Stay updated on industry trends and new technologies to ensure our technology stack remains modern and competitive

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in software development with strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails
• Experience with front-end technologies (e.g., JavaScript, HTML, CSS) and frameworks like Jquery and Twitter Bootstrap
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and experience with third-party integrations
• Familiarity with database systems (particularly PostgreSQL) and experience in optimizing queries for performance
• Proven experience with Agile development methodologies and familiarity with project management tools
• Experience working with larger, long running development projects
• Experience in managing or mentoring other developers
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment
• Strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical team members
• BS or MS in computer science or related field
• Experience working in startup environments
