Position Title: General Foundry Worker Department: Operations / Manufacturing Pay: $21.80 per hour Shift: 1st shift- 4:00AM -2:30PM Monday-Friday (OT when required)
Job Summary:
The General Laborer supports daily production operations in a green sand iron foundry by performing a variety of manual labor and production support tasks. This position assists with material handling, housekeeping, equipment support, and general production activities while following all safety, quality, and work rules established by the Company and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Duties may vary by department and shift and are assigned in accordance with operational needs and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.)
Perform general labor tasks in production areas including molding, melting, shakeout, finishing, and material handling.
Assist with moving, loading, and unloading raw materials, molds, cores, castings, and finished products.
Operate basic hand tools and powered equipment as trained and authorized.
Maintain clean and orderly work areas by sweeping, shoveling sand, disposing of scrap, and removing debris.
Assist skilled trades or machine operators as directed.
Follow all safety rules, lockout/tagout procedures, PPE requirements, and foundry safety standards.
Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or quality concerns to supervision.
Support quality requirements by handling materials and products in accordance with work instructions.
Perform other duties as assigned consistent with classification and union agreement.
Qualifications:
Ability to perform physically demanding work in a hot, dusty, noisy industrial environment.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to work safely and comply with all Company and OSHA safety requirements.
Ability to work scheduled shifts, overtime, and weekends as required.
Preferred:
Prior manufacturing or foundry experience.
Experience working in a unionized environment.
Basic mechanical aptitude.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, with assistance or mechanical aids as required.
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work in confined or elevated areas.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment including respirators, face shields, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear.
