Northern Iron is looking for a talented and experienced Machine Shop Supervisor to lead
CNC machining operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise in CNC machining, programming, and inspection who enjoys mentoring teams, driving quality, and improving processes.
You’ll oversee daily production, ensure quality standards are met, and partner closely with Engineering and Quality to keep operations running efficiently.

What is the salary?- $85,000 – $90,000 per year, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities include:- Supervise and coordinate CNC machining operations to meet production schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of machinists to maximize performance and productivity
- Oversee CNC programming and machine setup using G-Code
- Ensure accurate and efficient production of parts and components
- Perform and oversee inspections using CMM equipment, PC-DMIS, and Romer Arm
- Interpret inspection data and ensure compliance with engineering specifications
- Troubleshoot machine issues and coordinate maintenance to minimize downtime
- Enforce safety policies and maintain a safe working environment
- Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve technical issues and improve processes
- Maintain accurate records of production, programming, setup, and inspection data
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and increase efficiency
What do you bring to the job?- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in CNC machining operations, programming, and inspection
- Proficiency with PC-DMIS, CMM programming, and Romer Arm
- Experience with Okuma Lathes and Mori Seki Horizontal Mills strongly preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
- Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Knowledge of machining safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus
