This is a limited tenure position with a projected end date of June 1, 2027
The IT Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for a stand-alone laboratory IT environment wholly owned by Mayo Collaborative Services (MCS). This role has primary responsibility for building and establishing IT capabilities for a new company and laboratory; operating independently while remaining aligned with Mayo governance, security, and quality standards during the build and early operational phases.
The IT Director is accountable for designing, implementing, and operating IT services across core IT and laboratory technology domains, including infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and laboratory systems. Services will be delivered through a combination of internal collaboration and managed service provider relationships, with accountability for service reliability, regulatory compliance, scalability, financial stewardship, and risk management. The Director serves as the primary technology leader and integrator, translating laboratory business and regulatory requirements into secure, reliable, and compliant technology solutions.
This position is a limited-tenure role intended to support the formation, launch, and stabilization of the new company and laboratory. As the organization matures, the role is expected to transition to a permanent IT leadership position within a separate company operating independently from Mayo Collaborative Services.
The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated success leading IT operations in laboratory, healthcare, life sciences, or similarly regulated environments, with experience spanning network and infrastructure services, enterprise applications, cybersecurity programs, and highly available, mission-critical systems. Experience establishing IT capabilities for new entities, joint ventures, or stand-alone operations is strongly preferred. Success in this role requires the ability to operate with a high degree of independence while effectively aligning technology decisions with a broader enterprise governance, security, and compliance framework.
