
Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Our MISSION is to help ensure the security of the United States and its allies by providing high-hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities through operations, engineering, education, field, and integration services and by acting as environmental stewards to the Site’s Cold War legacy. As an integral part of the Financial Integration and Compliance team, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for various tax filings on behalf of the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). Your work will have a direct impact on the success of the company.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws, regulation and filing deadlines.
Prepare sales/use tax, property tax, gross receipts tax and other business-related tax filings for multiple state and county jurisdictions.
Support month-end and year-end closes processes related to tax.
Assist with tax audits, notices and inquiries from taxing authorities.
Perform general ledger and subsidiary ledger account reconciliations and required journal vouchers.
Collaborate with accounting, finance and legal teams in tax-related matters
Communicate with various levels of staff and management, auditors, and Department of Energy entity personnel on a regular basis.
Maintain accurate tax documentation, schedules and workpapers.
Assist payroll tax accountant as needed.
Adhere to company policies, procedures, and directives.
Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or other business-related field and at least 5 years’ of professional level experience, which has provided a broad practical knowledge, preferably related to a government contractor environment, or equivalent training and experience.
Experience with state and local tax filings in Nevada.
Experience with Oracle Financials is desirable.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and maintain organization in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’

Annual salary range for this position is: $80,579.20 - $120,868.80.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
