Raytheon has an opening for a Principal Product Development Engineer. As a Product Development Engineer (PDE), you will serve as the Subject Matter Expert in manufacturability for several programs, with a specific focus on the Printed Circuit Board and Circuit Card Assembly product lifecycle. This role directly contributes to the overall affordability, reliability, and efficiency of our manufacturing processes.
We act as the liaison between RTX design teams and external PCB/CCA suppliers, bridging gaps between design intent and production realities. Travel to provide onsite supplier support will be expected. You will work closely with suppliers to address challenges and resolve technical issues. PDEs gather and apply lessons learned from suppliers to drive continuous improvement by incorporating supplier feedback into redesigns.
Responsibilities to anticipate:
Responsible for hosting and facilitating design reviews and collaborating with a multi-disciplined design team which takes Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) designs from inception to manufacturing.
Mentoring teammates on industry knowledge of circuit card assembly manufacturing and IPC specs.
Generate drawing notes and review Technical Data Package (TDP) to ensure adherence to IPC specs.
BOM (Bill of Material) development and management to ensure part selection is optimal for circuit Card Assembly process and rework.
Travel to provide onsite supplier support will be expected. You will work closely with suppliers to address challenges and resolve technical issues.
This is a remote based position.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, STEM Degree.
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience to include at least two of the following:
PCB manufacturing
Circuit card assembly.
Experience with and understanding of IPC and MIL specifications and design guides.
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. US Citizenship is required as only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Detailed Circuit Card Assembly process knowledge and the ability to drive the component placement, component selection and material selection and have a positive effect on CCA manufacturability.
Previous experience with RTX Circuit card designs achieving alignment and collaboration between the various disciplines within the RTX Design community to achieve organizational and programmatic objectives.
Demonstrated communication skills necessary to interface with all levels of RTX management.
Experience with project coordination and task management.
Demonstrated experience working on complex technical problems and facilitate innovative solutions.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
