Suna Solutions is a rapidly growing fintech organization where data plays a central role in driving innovation and business decisions. The Data Engineer will work closely with engineering and analytics teams to develop scalable data models, support infrastructure migrations, and ensure the delivery of high-quality data products.
Responsibilities:
- Support the migration of dbt models from Redshift and Snowflake to Trino (Iceberg) while ensuring compatibility, performance, and adherence to best practices
- Convert and refactor SQL syntax from Redshift and Snowflake to Trino within existing dbt models
- Manage version control for dbt models using Git
- Refactor and optimize data models to align with modern data modeling and Iceberg best practices
- Collaborate with analytics and engineering teams to validate data models and ensure smooth migration outcomes
- Work with Tableau assets to ensure data sources are aligned with the new infrastructure
- Coordinate with workbook owners to test and validate the impact of migration changes
- Participate in daily standups and collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute migration priorities efficiently
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, or Analytics role
- At least 1 year of experience working within financial services or SaaS environments
- Hands-on experience with dbt and modern data modeling practices
- Strong experience using Git for version control
- Strong proficiency in SQL, with experience across multiple SQL dialects including Redshift, Snowflake, and Trino (Iceberg)
- Deep understanding of dbt, including model development, macros, and Jinja templating
- Experience working with BI tools such as Tableau, including data source configuration and integration
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and guide teams through infrastructure transitions
- Proven experience refactoring SQL and dbt models to support platform migrations and evolving data infrastructure
- Experience working in startup or fast-paced environments is a plus
