Fire Protection Designer

Gigantes Group is a full-service fire protection contractor specializing in the design, installation, and service of fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems. The Fire Protection Designer will be responsible for preparing detailed layouts of fire protection systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with codes while collaborating closely with project teams.

Responsibilities:

• Develop complete layouts for fire sprinkler systems (NFPA 13) and/or fire alarm systems (NFPA 72)
• Prepare drawings, hydraulic calculations (sprinkler), voltage drop/battery calculations (alarm), material lists, and submittals
• Review and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings
• Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and field installation teams to ensure accuracy and constructability
• Ensure all designs comply with NFPA standards, building/fire codes, and AHJ requirements
• Revise drawings and documents as projects progress through permitting, installation, and inspection
• Attend coordination meetings with contractors and other trades as needed
• Provide technical support during project bidding and estimating

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience in fire protection system design (sprinkler and/or fire alarm)
• Working knowledge of NFPA 13 (sprinkler) and/or NFPA 72 (alarm), plus applicable building/fire codes
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• NICET Level II or higher in Water-Based Systems Layout or Fire Alarm Systems (preferred or in progress)
• Revit and industry-specific calculation software (sprinkler hydraulic or alarm voltage drop/battery) a plus
