Chenega Corporation is a leader in providing integrated enterprise IT support to Federal customers. They are seeking a Chief Engineer to provide technical leadership and architectural oversight for the FCC’s Enterprise Technical Services program, focusing on optimizing IT infrastructure and ensuring compliance with federal standards.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical authority for the FETS contract, providing leadership across engineering, systems administration, networking, and application integration
- Design and oversee enterprise architecture across Windows, Linux/Unix, hybrid cloud, and on-prem infrastructure environments
- Ensure solutions align with FCC mission goals, performance objectives, and federal IT modernization initiatives
- Lead engineering efforts related to cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, and platform optimization
- Oversee architecture and operational support for Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux/Unix systems, and hybrid infrastructure environments
- Guide implementation of cloud infrastructure solutions (AWS, Azure, or similar platforms) including compute, networking, storage, and security services
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of enterprise infrastructure systems
- Support infrastructure automation, configuration management, and DevSecOps best practices
- Work with ServiceNow development and ITSM teams to ensure technical integration with enterprise infrastructure
- Support automation and operational efficiency initiatives across incident, change, and configuration management processes
- Ensure infrastructure monitoring and operational data feed into the ServiceNow ITSM platform and CMDB
- Ensure infrastructure and systems comply with federal cybersecurity frameworks, including:
- NIST 800-53
- FISMA
- FedRAMP
- Zero Trust Architecture
- Collaborate with cybersecurity engineers to implement secure system configurations, monitoring, and threat mitigation strategies
- Support Authority to Operate (ATO) activities and federal compliance audits
- Oversee integration of applications, infrastructure, and network services across the enterprise environment
- Provide technical guidance to engineering teams responsible for:
- Cloud engineering
- Systems administration
- Network engineering
- ServiceNow platform integration
- Ensure interoperability between applications, services, and infrastructure
- Support Service Quality Management (SQM) initiatives by identifying opportunities for infrastructure improvements and service optimization
- Assist with the development of technical KPIs, metrics, and performance dashboards
- Ensure engineering activities support FCC operational efficiency and service delivery objectives
- Provide technical guidance to the Program Manager and government stakeholders
- Present engineering recommendations, architecture decisions, and modernization strategies to FCC leadership
- Coordinate across contractor teams and FCC technical staff to ensure the successful execution of engineering initiatives

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
- 10+ years of enterprise engineering experience, including infrastructure architecture and systems engineering
- Demonstrated experience supporting federal IT environments and government compliance frameworks
- Deep expertise with Windows Server environments and Active Directory
- Deep expertise with Linux/Unix systems administration
- Deep expertise with Hybrid cloud environments (AWS or Azure)
- Experience designing enterprise-scale infrastructure architectures
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, enterprise systems integration, and infrastructure security
- Experience supporting ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow
- Public Trust
- AWS Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect certification
- ITIL v4 certification
- CISSP or equivalent cybersecurity certification
- Experience supporting federal IT modernization initiatives and cloud migration programs
- Experience working within DevSecOps and automated infrastructure environments
