PURPOSE:
The Associate Attorney is responsible for handling contested/litigated matters for the Firm. This person will utilize legal knowledge and experience as necessary to facilitate the litigation process on behalf of our clients in the District of Columbia and, if Maryland barred, may work Maryland files as well.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Attending the all-day DC court docket on Thursdays and Fridays every week.
• Preparing for the hearings.
• Attending DC mediations on other days and preparing for those mediations.
• Managing the DC service population and drafting and editing the motions to extend/for alternate service.
• Assisting with the DC motions for summary judgment population/drafting and editing motions for summary judgment.
• Responding to motions and replying to oppositions that are filed by defendants within our DC foreclosure cases.
• Assist with other duties and special projects as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree with a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Minimum of 2 years of litigation/courtroom experience.
• Regular on-site presence in our Rockville, MD office is required.
• Previous foreclosure experience a plus.
• Member of the District of Columbia Bar while maintaining all necessary licensing and continuing legal education requirements is required. Maryland Bar admission is a plus.
• Must be proficient in drafting pleadings, briefs, affidavits, discovery, proposed orders, as well as correspondence, memoranda, and opinion letters.
