This is a part time (20 hours per week, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) benefited position located in Del Mar. This is a partial remote position (at least 2 shifts on-site per week).

The Diabetes Educator I is a Registered Dietitian (RD), CDCES is part of an interdisciplinary team and works closely with physicians, surgeons, nurse practitioner, registered nurses, and health educator. This critical role requires effective communication, critical thinking, and strong interpersonal skills to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy and diabetes education to weight management and bariatric surgery patients in an outpatient clinic.
Responsibilities include:
Initiate, monitor, and re-evaluate nutritional strategies for surgical and non-surgical weight loss patients and patients with diabetes.
Participation in monthly bariatric support groups (scheduled in the evening).
Collaborate with colleagues and physicians on program development.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
- A minimum of two years providing diabetes education as a RD or other CDCES eligible role required.
- In-depth knowledge and application of current weight loss therapies as well as diabetes treatment management.
- Ability to develop a collaborative, therapeutic alliance with individuals.
- Ability to communicate clearly in group settings
- Bariatric experience.
Required Certification/Registration:
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
- Certified Diabetes Educator (CDCES) certification is preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
