Location: Hybrid ideally based out of Boulder, CO or Hoboken, NJ
Role Purpose:
The Sr. Associate, Research and Development provides support in business continuity, cost savings and new product development projects. Intention to work within several Meal Prep categories as needed, to assist with diversifying the Company’s product offering and maintaining business continuity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attends weekly cross functional team meetings with R&D, marketing personnel, and others to discuss projects and associated timelines, goals, and objectives
- Partners with Procurement, Operations, and vendors to coordinate plant trial and production processes
- Attends live plant trials, startups, and other travel as requested
- Performs appropriate bench work to produce prototypes of new products
- Gathers and reviews all appropriate documentation for certifying body approval (organic, kosher), NLEA and other regulatory requirements
- Collaborates with Quality to ensure food safety, SQF and HACCP program requirements are met and to provide product specifications and other related information to populate the technical database
- Participates in sensory panels
- Monitors ingredients and packaging components to identify potential cost savings measures
- Learns the various manufacturing equipment capabilities associated with the processes for which products are developed
- Maintains ongoing research and knowledge of technical service developments inclusive of potential opportunities or products and current developments
- Assists with other projects, as needed
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in food science, food process engineering or appropriate biological sciences
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience with bench product development
Preferred:
- Preferred knowledge of the Consumer Packaged Goods industry
- Knowledge of organic regulations or natural foods a plus
- Experience with sensory a plus
Competencies and Proficiency Requirements:
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple projects and strong attention to detail
- Computer skills including MS Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate (verbal/writing) effectively
- Self-motivated / self-starter and strong analytical / problem solving skills
- Ability to collaborate at all levels of the organization and across other functional areas
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Conditions of Role:
- Travel Requirements: 10 - 20% travel to internal facilities, co-manufacturing plants, suppliers, customers, trade shows
- Physical Conditions: Hybrid, with weekly office presence and occasional travel
- Work Environment: Hybrid to Hoboken NJ or Boulder CO
