
We are seeking a Senior Data Architect to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico; however, this position has been approved for work in a primarily remote capacity.
Responsibilities
Execute an enterprise-wide data strategy to modernize the core operational data store.
Transform legacy data environments into modern, cloud-native architectures.
Define data strategy, standards, and blueprints for migrating and integrating high-volume operational data.
Ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility across the enterprise.
Collaborate with ERP implementation planners, integrators, and institutional knowledge experts.
Support key institutional initiatives, including real-time analytics, AI/ML capabilities, and operational efficiency.
Work with cross-functional teams: business analysts, ERP functional consultants, developers, and infrastructure teams.
Lead architecture projects and provide technical direction to personnel.
Present architecture decisions to executive leadership.
Deliver safety-class, mission-critical software.
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of relevant experience.
Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
Extensive experience implementing solutions with Snowflake, Databricks, and/or SAP data platforms (S/4HANA, Datasphere, etc.).
Proven experience as a senior data architect or equivalent role, with leadership on large-scale architecture projects.
Strong experience in designing and implementing complex data architecture, including data warehousing and large-scale data modernization projects.
Strong understanding of major cloud platforms and their native data services.
Extensive data migration experience: on-prem to cloud and cloud-to-cloud.
Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams (business analysts, ERP consultants, developers, infrastructure).
Strong stakeholder management skills; experience presenting architecture decisions to executive leadership.
Experience leading teams and providing technical direction across multiple projects.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons.
