Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm
The Senior Paralegal is responsible for assisting El Rio Health General Counsel as directed, including assistance with legal review of all material contracts and other legally binding documents (“Contracts”) to ensure Contracts adhere to El Rio Health compliance and organizational guidelines, standards, and practices. The Senior Paralegal collaborates with the El Rio Health General Counsel to review, revise, negotiate, finalize, and document all assigned Contracts to make sure they minimize risk to El Rio Health and meet legal, regulatory, compliance, financial and/or operational needs of the organization. The Senior Paralegal may communicate directly with El Rio Health leaders to review and revise Contract and other legal documents. The Senior Paralegal works with the Document Compliance Coordinator or similar to ensure Contracts are properly managed within the Contract Management software system. This position requires discretion and judgement in handling confidential and sensitive information.
Essential Job Functions:
• Reviews assigned Contracts to identify legal issues to be addressed.
• Communicates with El Rio Health operational staff to ensure consistent understanding of legal language and operational impact to assist El Rio Health leaders in understanding and developing Contracts that meet El Rio Health’s standards.
• Serves as liaison with General Counsel or designee to resolve Contract conflict, issue or problems that arise in the course of business.
• Demonstrates an exceptional level of customer service and professionalism responding to inquiries and issues in a timely and effective manner.
• Demonstrates teamwork, collaboration, and self-initiative to proactively address issues within the scope of the role.
• Demonstrates an understanding of and proficiency with the application of all compliance and reporting requirements respective to Joint Commission Certification (JCC) standards.
Minimum Education and Experience:
• Associate’s Degree or Higher in Legal Studies or equivalent
• Three (3) years full time experience as a paralegal in a health care environment.
• Three (3) years’ experience with reviewing contract terms and conditions in a health care environment.
• Three (3) year experience administering or using Contract Management Software (e.g., MediTract or similar)
If applicable, equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, and must be directly related to the functions and responsibilities of the job.
Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:
• Employees in this position are required to have reliable transportation that can meet any operational reassignments of the organization during the workday. If an employee is driving during work hours, the employee is required to possess a valid driver’s license and must comply with Arizona vehicle insurance requirements.

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) with the ability to speak, read and write in both languages

El Rio Health requires all AZ employees to have a Level One Fingerprint Clearance card. A.R.S. 36.425.03. New hires and transfers must submit their fingerprint clearance card or fingerprint receipt before their hire date or transfer date. Level One (1) Non-IVP Fingerprint Clearance card must be received within 30 days after the new employee hire date or transfer date.
