This is an on-site role in the Wenatchee plant, 5 days per week.
This Buyer position supports local procurement in carrying out procurement strategies and processes in collaboration with local functional teams within the Fiber business segment for certain key global raw materials, supplies, and indirect costs to help achieve the Company’s goals and objectives in relation to budget, costs, volume, sustainability, quality, and service.
Working under the general direction of the Procurement manager, this role provides the required responsiveness to the strategic procurement needs (support growth, identify new innovative materials/supply partners, risk mitigation and business continuity strategies, margin expansion, etc.) and brings value (drives profitability, supports sustainability and growth strategies and targets, protects free cash flow, etc.) to the segments and/or geographies as assigned.
Duties
- Create and maintain comparative price/conditions tables for active negotiations. This requires contacting vendors for quotes, updates, etc.
- Place purchase orders according to company procedure.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of raw materials and/or finished goods through accurate purchasing/sourcing methods.
- Follow up the open POs status with the vendors. Monitor that all Open POs are correct and close any unnecessary pending open POs in a monthly basis.
- Ensure all relevant information on fulfillment and delivery planning is maintained in the company database.
- Respond to internal customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes and/or cancellations.
- Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.
- Prepare purchase orders and send copies to suppliers and to departments originating requests.
- Locate suppliers, using sources such as catalogs and the internet, etc.; and interview them to gather information about products to be ordered.
- Provide strong customer service to internal teams and vendors.
- Perform other related duties that contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by supervisor.
- Locate, evaluate, qualify, develop, and maintain a consolidated supplier base to meet current and future needs and control entity wide risk.
- Work with the Corporate Supply Chain team in the implementation of global strategies within the supply chain.
- Work closely with cross departmental teams such as planning, R&D and logistics to provide efficient and effective options to internal customers.
- Support new product development processes.
Salary Range: $66,000 - $80,000
