Job Description
- Lead the Strategic Purchasing function for India businesses supporting food and pharmaceutical machinery operations, while providing sourcing support to global business requirements.
- Lead and manage the Strategic Purchasing department, overseeing a team of Managers and Deputy Managers.
- Collaborate with the global purchasing organization to align sourcing strategies and leverage economies of scale and best practices
- Drive digital transformation initiatives in procurement processes, systems, and analytics to enhance efficiency and transparency.
- Establish and monitor procurement KPIs, cost-reduction targets, and performance metrics across direct and indirect categories, presenting savings and strategic outcomes to senior leadership
- Lead value engineering initiatives and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis to optimize spend and improve competitiveness.
- Develop and implement category strategies across all material groups and commodity portfolios in alignment with central purchasing and global procurement objectives.
- Review and approve major purchase decisions, high-value contracts, and strategic supplier agreements, including critical negotiations.
- Design and execute supplier development programs, performance evaluation frameworks, and strategic partnerships to enhance supplier capability and accountability.
- Implement supply chain risk management strategies, including supplier diversification, contingency planning, and ongoing monitoring of market dynamics and mitigation actions.
- Conduct market intelligence and analysis to identify emerging trends, technologies, and sourcing opportunities.
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Quality, and Project Management to align procurement with business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and new product development initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to procurement governance, sourcing board protocols, regulatory requirements, and ethical and sustainable sourcing practices.
- Oversee contract management, documentation control, compliance audits, and management of CAPEX and OPEX procurement budgets to ensure optimal resource allocation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (Master's degree or MBA preferred)
- 20+ years of progressive experience in strategic procurement and supply chain management
- At least 8-10 years in leadership roles managing procurement teams and strategic initiatives
- Proven track record in manufacturing, automation engineering, or capital equipment industry
- Deep expertise in SAP/ERP systems and procurement technologies
- Professional certifications such as CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management), or equivalent highly desirable
- Strategic thinking and business acumen with ability to align procurement with organizational objectives
- Advanced negotiation and contract management expertise across complex low-value/high-mix agreements and high-value strategic contracts, including single-source and non-competitive scenarios
- Strong leadership, people management, and team development capabilities
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at all organizational levels
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chain dynamics, and quality systems
- Proficiency in supplier audits, evaluation methodologies, and continuous improvement techniques
- Market intelligence, commodity expertise, and ability to anticipate industry trends
- Data analytics, reporting capabilities, and proficiency with procurement dashboards and KPIs
- Change management and process improvement skills (Lean, Six Sigma experience preferred)
- Financial acumen including budgeting, cost analysis, business case development, and ROI evaluation
