DevOps Engineer (Junior)

Oddball is a company that values learning and growth, aiming to make a significant impact by delivering quality software to the federal space. They are seeking a Junior DevOps Engineer to support the VA Innovation Unit in building and operating modern cloud platforms for mission-driven applications serving Veterans and VA stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins
• Assist with provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure in AWS, including services like EC2, S3, and RDS
• Help automate infrastructure and environment configuration using Terraform or CloudFormation
• Support container-based application deployments using Docker
• Assist with monitoring and troubleshooting environments using tools such as Datadog and CloudWatch
• Write basic automation scripts using Python or Bash to improve deployment and operational workflows
• Collaborate with engineering teams operating in Agile development environments

Requirements:

• 1–3 years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or infrastructure automation
• Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure cloud services (such as EC2, S3, RDS, or equivalent Azure services)
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps Pipelines
• Experience working with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, ARM, or Bicep
• Experience working with Docker containers and container-based deployments
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog, Azure Monitor, Dynatrace, or CloudWatch
• Scripting experience using PowerShell, Bash, or Python
• Experience working in Agile development environments and collaborating with engineering teams
