They are seeking a Junior DevOps Engineer to support the VA Innovation Unit in building and operating modern cloud platforms for mission-driven applications serving Veterans and VA stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins
- Assist with provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure in AWS, including services like EC2, S3, and RDS
- Help automate infrastructure and environment configuration using Terraform or CloudFormation
- Support container-based application deployments using Docker
- Assist with monitoring and troubleshooting environments using tools such as Datadog and CloudWatch
- Write basic automation scripts using Python or Bash to improve deployment and operational workflows
- Collaborate with engineering teams operating in Agile development environments
Requirements:
- 1–3 years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or infrastructure automation
- Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure cloud services (such as EC2, S3, RDS, or equivalent Azure services)
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps Pipelines
- Experience working with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, ARM, or Bicep
- Experience working with Docker containers and container-based deployments
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog, Azure Monitor, Dynatrace, or CloudWatch
- Scripting experience using PowerShell, Bash, or Python
- Experience working in Agile development environments and collaborating with engineering teams
