The Design Engineer will support client design projects throughout the project life cycle, collaborating with teams to ensure successful execution of electronic security solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Contributor for complex engagements and works directly with clients and the Design Engineering team to develop specifications, designs, budgets, timelines and manage expectations
- Conceptualize system designs and determine system requirements
- Provide technical expertise and coordination information to support the architecture, installation and planning of electronic security solutions
- Develop ESS project estimates and proposals
- Develop the Bill of Materials (BOM) and supporting documentation
- Develop detailed 30%, 60%, 90% and IFC drawings
- Research, identify, and recommend technology options for clients
- DE may have client interaction and contribute to the P and L performance
- Project lifecycle is important and learning the standards our clients are comfortable with is just as important as selling new technology and solutions where they fit. The position bears the responsibility to develop long lasting client partnerships & work with team members to maintain the account on all levels
- Maintains expertise in the industry through ongoing review of trade publications, participation in industry trade shows, seminars and educational forums. May author articles and/or analyze trends
- Provides direction and counsel to junior personnel in engineering projects and guides issue resolution
- Attend appropriate manufacturer trainings, attend or lead lunch and learns and continue online education
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associates degree required and/or equivalent experience
- Proficient in AutoCAD, BIM and MS Office 365
- 5+ years of experience in technical systems designing
- Ability to get a government issued Top Secret Clearance (US-based only)
- A clear understanding of project phases Program, Conceptualization, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, Construction and Commissioning
- A thorough, demonstrable understanding of the construction process, installation and integration as well as architectural and construction drawings and specifications
- Certifications or training with Milestone and Lenel preferred
- Certifications or training with in Genetec, Avigilon and S2 preferred
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Detailed oriented, independent, self-starter
- Exceptional time management skills with a track record for meeting deadlines
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to analyze complex issues and communicate concise succinct messages
- High level of problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills
