HEICO Repair Group Aerostructures, a recognized leader in the repair and overhaul of aircraft structural components, is currently seeking a Team Leader for our Paint department.
The Team Leader is responsible for supervising paint technicians, coordinating workflow, and ensuring all surface preparation, coating, and finishing processes meet FAA regulatory standards, engineering requirements, and company quality procedures. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge of aerospace coating systems, and a commitment to safety, compliance, and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of paint department technicians
- Ensure proper surface preparation, masking, priming, and application of aerospace coatings on repaired components
- Oversee paint operations for components including nacelles, thrust reversers, flight control surfaces, and radomes
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with FAA regulations and approved engineering data
- Monitor workflow, assign tasks, and ensure production schedules and delivery commitments are met
- Coordinate with engineering, quality assurance, and production planning teams
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, environmental regulations, and hazardous material handling requirements
Qualifications
Skills / Education and Experience
- High School or GED required
- Minimum 3–5 years of aerospace paint or refinishing experience
- Prior leadership or team lead experience in an aerospace manufacturing company
- Knowledge of FAA regulations and repair station procedures
- Experience preparing and coating aerospace composite and metallic structures
- Strong understanding of surface preparation, sanding, priming, masking, and aerospace paint application processes
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, repair instructions, and technical specifications
- Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety procedures related to paint booth operations and hazardous materials.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Physical Demands
- Frequent use of hands for sanding, masking, spraying, and operating paint equipment
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the shop floor for extended periods during the work shift
- Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and climbing ladders or work platforms when working on large aircraft components
- Ability to work in paint booth environments while wearing required PPE, including respirators, gloves, protective suits, and eye protection
- Visual acuity sufficient to inspect surface preparation, coating thickness, and paint finish quality
- Ability to work in an industrial shop environment with exposure to paint fumes, solvents, and moderate noise levels while following all safety protocols.
