Job Overview
The Communications Coordinator supports the district's communication efforts by creating engaging, student-centered, and family-friendly content that informs, connects, and builds trust across the school community. This role blends digital content creation and basic graphic design with marketing support, storytelling, and public relations coordination to highlight campus successes, support district initiatives, and ensure clear, consistent messaging across platforms including web, social media, email, and print. Working closely with schools and departments, the Communications Coordinator helps translate complex information into accessible messages while strengthening the district's brand and positive public presence.Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Digital Content and Graphic Design
- Create visual and written content for web, social media, email, and print platforms
- Create and design digital and print communication materials, including graphics, flyers, social media content, email visuals, and basic video or multimedia assets in support of district and campus initiatives
- Work collaboratively with Communications team members and District Graphic Designer to ensure the production of high-quality communication materials that are brand-aligned
Marketing and Brand Support- Assist with district-level communications campaigns and materials that promote initiatives, programs, and events while maintaining brand consistency
- Support marketing and awareness campaigns by developing and scheduling content across district platforms such as websites, social media, newsletters, and email communications
Storytelling and Content Development - Write, edit, and publish stories for print, digital, and media distribution that highlight students, staff, campuses, and district successes
- Assist with storytelling efforts by gathering content from schools and departments, highlighting student achievement, staff success, programs, and events
Public Relations and Communications Support- Draft strategic communication plans that demonstrate and align with the District’s mission, vision, core beliefs, goals, and objectives
- Support media communications, announcements, and special projects that enhance public trust and engagement
- Establish distribution channels and stakeholder relationships to share district updates and information related to core initiatives, updates, and timely information
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with the Chief Communications Officer, Executive Director of Communications and department leadership in planning and coordination of various communication materials and programs to enhance the FBISD organizational brand position and reputation
- Write, edit and review internal and external communication materials with a strategic focus on key messages and intended audiences
- Collaborate with campus and department staff to translate complex or time sensitive information into clear, accessible messages for families and the community
- Support internal communications by helping prepare presentations, reports, and staff facing materials
- Attend pertinent District and community functions and network with community representatives
- Meet deadlines and manage multiple projects within the required timelines assigned

- Minimum of 3 years experience in strategic communications, media relations, AP Style writing
- The ideal candidate has strong communication, editing, administrative, organizational, project management and computer skills; experience with web content management, social media platforms, and computer programs; and is detail and deadline oriented
- A background in education or non-profit management, a plus
- Bi/Multi-lingual, a plus

Additional Information- Must be able to handle stressful situations as necessary. Activities require walking, standing, and sitting. Operating computer for prolonged periods may be required at times. Most of the work involves only exposure to normal, everyday risks. Work may be subject to deadlines and require tailoring and delivering programs to meet the needs of many divergent groups. Some night and weekend activities are required.
