Learning Commons/OSA Assistant (Part-Time)

Overview:

Quinnipiac University invites applications for the position of Learning Commons/OSA Assistant on our North Haven campus.  This position will perform clerical duties, staff and student assistance, to support the Learning Commons and students with disabilities, within the Office of Student Accessibility (OSA).

This is a part-time benefits eligible position with hours from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.

Responsibilities:

• Support the student testing process and student accommodation process as directed, including gathering exam materials from faculty and corresponding with faculty and staff.
• Monitor and respond to email and phone inquiries regarding aspects of exam administration and other relevant matters. Greet visitors and students, take messages, relay information and answer questions within scope of knowledge and authority.
• Handle high public contact and steady foot traffic efficiently and professionally, problem-solving in the moment. Have knowledge of Quinnipiac procedures, OSA and Learning Commons operations.
• Use University systems fully and effectively, including the maintenance of student records. Retrieve data and reports as needed.
• Guided by supervisor’s direction about academic integrity standards, oversee the completion of exams by student test takers.
• Gather and enter accurate data for the preparation of various reports/documents/letters, etc.
• Organize and maintain a filing system for all pertinent department/program data so that it is readily accessible.
• Provide coverage for other clerical staff in the OSA and Learning Commons as requested.
• Other clerical duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required

Qualifications:

• 1–3 years in administrative support, customer service, or academic services.
• Prior experience in higher education or student services is a strong plus.
• Clear, courteous, and effective written and verbal communication with students, faculty, and staff.
• Ability to manage high foot traffic and public contact with professionalism and empathy.
• Experience maintaining organized filing systems and handling confidential student records.
• Basic knowledge of student accommodation processes and sensitivity to accessibility needs.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds.

• Please note this is a Grade 6 position in the Clerical & Technical Union.
• This position offers a starting rate of $26.88. Educational differentials include an additional $0.35 per hour for an associate’s degree and $0.75 per hour for a bachelor’s degree.
• The hours for this benefits eligible part-time 20 hours per week position are 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
• This position requires the successful completion of a Microsoft Office test, proofreading test, and background check.
