
Description
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for providing expert accounting oversight to various critical functions. This position will be primarily engaged in reconciling cash transactions, filing periodic fuels and sales tax returns, and managing Tiger’s fixed asset portfolio.
· Manage the filing of monthly VA, MD, and WV fuels tax returns and ensure system configuration reconciles to what is filed and paid.
· Manage the filing of the monthly state sales and use tax returns for all Tiger Fuel divisions.
· Assist with the implementation of a systematic bank reconciliation process and work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure 100% matching bank reconciliations are conducted monthly.
· Manage Tiger’s portfolio of fixed assets, including the capitalization of new assets, disposal of existing assets, and book depreciation schedules.
· Collaborate with department heads to draft annual capital expenditure budget; monitor and report on capital expenditure against the budgets.
· Conduct periodic fixed assets audits.
· Perform ongoing customer account reconciliations to identify discrepancies and help resolve customer issues and concerns as needed.
· Review federal and state fuel tax billing compliance and correct as needed.
· Lead the preparation of Tiger Fuel Co.’s annual unclaimed property tax return.
· Perform supporting functions for home heating delivery billing and reconciliation as needed.
· Answer customer questions related to billing and general account inquiries.
· Assist with month-end close processes, including but not limited to inventory and A/R reconciliations, prepaid expenses and accrual calculations and monthly financial statement generation.
· Assist management with identifying areas for improvement and operational excellence
· Promote the “Tiger Way” and our cycle of success by building high quality relationships with employees, customers, and outside vendors.
· Perform other duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
· 8-10 years of experience working in Accounting functions in roles of increasing responsibility
· Bachelor’s in Accounting or other Business degree is required. CPA license or CMA certification preferred.
· Excellent customer service experience is required.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to customers and management
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel is preferred
