Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for supporting the objectives of the Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality Policy
and Information Security Management Policy by adhering to applicable Procedures and
Work Practices while fulfilling of duties.
2. Execute project design in line with the discipline design instructions, quality plan, technical
work practices and procedures.
3. Design experience in key aspects of:
· Power Generation and Distribution including high voltage installations.
· Electrical system controls
· Plant design and equipment layout
4. Experienced in the production and checking of common electrical design deliverables
including:
· Single Line Diagrams
· Block Cable Diagrams
· Schematic/Connection Diagrams
· General Electrical Equipment Layouts including Sub-Station Layouts
· Lighting Layouts
· Earthing Layouts
· Hazardous Area Layouts
· Cable & Drum Schedules
5. Experienced in the activities, procedures, and methods associated with electrical systems
design development including:
· Cable Scheduling and Routing Design (above and below ground) *
· Lighting Design (including lighting design software application)
· Earthing Systems
· Hazardous Area Classification
· Electrical Bulk Material Take-off and Requisitioning *
* Ideally this should include knowledge of WIEPPL Operations electrical proprietary database
applications for Cable and bulk material management.
6. Be aware of Company procedures and technical work practices that have relevance to day-today
design activities.
7. Keep up to date with the latest technological advancements and best practices within the
electrical specialisation.
8. Continue professional development by attendance to in and out of company technical training.
9. Support work share project execution with our associated offices
10. Competent practitioner in the application of Industry standard CAD systems
(AutoCAD/MicroStation) for the production of 2-D electrical drawings
11. Ability to interpret the requirements of design and CAD standards and apply to design
deliverables.
12. Basic awareness of international design standards e.g. IEC/CENELEC /ATEX (European) and
ANSI/NEC (American).
13. Experienced in electrical design applications in a 3-D model environment via industry standard
3-D CAD modelling systems (PDS/PDMS/E3D/SP3D/REVIT)
14. Awareness design interface issues with other disciplines typically:
· Layout/piping group for general plant layout issues including Substation building
integration and overhead cable route (ladder rack) space reservation.
· Civil group for major electrical equipment supports and underground cable route
requirements.
· C&I group for motor control, overall system monitoring and maintained power system
requirements.
Duties
1. A high standard quality of work with respect to design deliverables.
2. Assist as necessary with respect to department needs typically by providing technical support
to preparation of Technical Work Practices (TWP’s).
3. Leadership of small area design teams under guidance from design group leader in a multidiscipline
project environment. To produce deliverables specific to that area on schedule, of
the correct quality and technical content.
4. Take responsibility for area design issues at model reviews and technical coordination
meetings.
5. Raise technical and execution issues to the Chief Designer – Electrical or Senior Principal
Designer – Electrical within the department for resolution.
6. Flexibility with respect to project and department needs with respect to travel for short and long
durations.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
The following are the minimum qualifications and level of experience required to perform the
essential functions of the role.
Qualifications/Training
1. Diploma in Electrical & Electronics/Instrument Engineering or Equivalent (Essential)
Experience
1. A minimum of 12 years of experience in Electrical Engineering Design Environment.
2. Ability to check engineering design deliverables in a multi-discipline task force-based
engineering design environment.
3. Experience in FEED or EPC engineering design in Project execution.
