Senior Analyst

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Power BI Expert (6–8 years) to lead the migration of existing Tableau dashboards and Excel-based reports into a modern, scalable Power BI reporting ecosystem. You will translate legacy logic (KPIs, filters, calculations, drilldowns) into Power BI while ensuring performance, governance, and user adoption.

Key Responsibilities

Migration & Modernization

• Inventory and assess existing Tableau dashboards and Excel reports (KPIs, data sources, refresh frequency, dependencies, usage).
• Translate Tableau dashboard functionality (calculations, filters, parameters, actions/drilldowns) into Power BI equivalents.
• Convert Excel reporting logic (formulas, pivots, Power Pivot models; macros where needed) into governed Power BI datasets and reports.
• Define migration approach: prioritization, design standards, validation/reconciliation plan, UAT criteria, and release plan.

Power BI Development

• Build strong semantic models (star schema, relationships, hierarchies) aligned with best practices.
• Develop optimized DAX measures (time intelligence, variance, contribution, ranking, dynamic segmentation).
• Build transformations using Power Query (M) with focus on efficiency and query folding where possible.
• Implement performance optimization (model size, relationships, aggregations, incremental refresh, visuals best practices).

Power BI Service, Deployment & Operations

• Publish and manage content in Power BI Service (workspaces, apps, permissions, refresh schedules).
• Maintain documentation: KPI definitions, data model, refresh schedule, data lineage, and report user guides.

Stakeholder Management & Quality

• Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, iterate on UX, and manage expectations.
• Validate migrated reports vs Tableau/Excel outputs to ensure number parity and KPI consistency.
• Train users/analysts on Power BI consumption and self-service best practices.

Must-Have Skills & Qualifications

• 6–8 years of relevant experience in BI/reporting/analytics engineering roles.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Power BI (dataset + reports + service deployment).
• Advanced DAX (complex measures, time intelligence, performance-aware patterns).
• Strong data modeling skills (dimensional modeling, star schema, relationship design).
• Strong Power Query (M) and data transformation experience.
• Strong SQL (data profiling, transformation logic, reconciliation, performance tuning).
• Experience migrating or re-engineering reporting from Tableau and/or Excel to Power BI with validated outputs.

Good-to-Have Skills

• Working knowledge of Tableau (interpreting workbooks, calculations/LOD concepts, extracts, filters, dashboard actions).
• Strong Excel reporting background (Power Pivot, complex formulas; VBA/macros is a plus).
• Performance tuning tools: DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, Performance Analyzer.
• Experience with enterprise semantic layers (SSAS Tabular / Azure Analysis Services) or large-scale Power BI models.
• Exposure to modern data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, Synapse, SQL Server, etc.).
• Domain knowledge of Retail / eCommerce metrics (sales/orders, returns, inventory, margin, customer cohorts/funnel).
