Ulteig is seeking a highly skilled Extra High Voltage (EHV) Senior Transmission Electrical Studies Engineer to serve as a technical leader and execute advanced engineering analysis and studies for transmission systems up to 765kV. The role involves performing various engineering analyses, mentoring new engineers, and serving as a Subject Matter Expert on projects.
Responsibilities:
- Perform EMF, audible noise, radio interference, corona analysis, AC interference and induced voltage modeling in accordance with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements, to support design and construction of new EHV transmission lines
- Evaluate and recommend conductor configurations for optimum electrical performance and environmental impact
- Complete insulation coordination studies for switching, lightning, overvoltage, and contamination performance
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert on projects and lead creation of client and internal standards
- Mentor and train new engineers
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required
- ABET accredited program or equivalent required
- PE License required
- 10+ years of engineering experience
- Proven track record of delivering complex transmission line studies for large scale, 500kV or above projects, from feasibility through detailed design
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices, including IEEE, NESC, CIGRE, EPRI, and others
- Experience working with and leading multi-disciplinary teams and mentoring junior engineers
- Proficient with PSCAD, PSSE, CDEGS, EPRI workstations, and ATP
- Ability to work in a high-paced team environment
- Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, clients and external agencies
- Highly driven toward team success and professional growth
- Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Demonstrates openness to innovation by embracing and applying evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement
- Up to 15% travel required
- Must have permanent authorization to work in the US
- Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power is a plus
- Active participant on related industry committee is preferred
- Experience providing expert testimony for public outreach and PUC hearings is preferred
