Our Ankeny, Iowa facility is seeking a skilled Injection Molding Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering and Maintenance teams. In this role, you will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain injection molding machines, robots, and automated equipment while helping improve manufacturing processes and equipment reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repair of plant equipment, machinery, building systems, and grounds.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues by observing equipment operation and identifying root causes of failures.
- Disassemble machinery to repair or replace defective components.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, conveyor, and electrical systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot injection molding presses, robots, and secondary automated equipment.
- Adjust and troubleshoot robotic systems and assist with robot programming modifications as needed.
- Diagnose and repair automation components including sensors, servo controls, power supplies, VFDs, relays, I/O cards, HMIs, and load cells.
- Read and interpret PLC ladder logic for troubleshooting and minor program modifications.
- Perform preventive maintenance and maintain accurate PM records and maintenance logs.
- Maintain documentation in compliance with company quality standards and procedures.
- Design and implement error-proofing (poka-yoke) and alarm systems where applicable.
- Identify equipment issues and collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and process teams to resolve problems.
- Assist with equipment setup and troubleshooting during new product launches.
- Follow all OSHA and ANSI safety standards to maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience troubleshooting and maintaining injection molding machines and secondary equipment.
- Experience working with robotics and programmable controls; ability to troubleshoot and modify programs preferred.
- Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems and controls.
- Experience maintaining plant machinery including hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, conveyors, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Experience with EOAT (End-of-Arm Tooling) design and fabrication is a plus.
- Knowledge of valve gate systems design and installation is a plus.
- Willingness to obtain certification for sit-down and stand-up forklifts and scissor lifts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to frequently lift, move, push, and pull up to 40 pounds.
- Capable of bending, stooping, standing, sitting, and walking for up to 8 hours while performing essential job duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods (50–100% of the work shift as required by tasks).
- Ability to safely ascend and descend forklifts, standing lifts, trailers, stairs, and ladders.
- Ability to turn head and maintain clear visibility in the direction of travel and look upward when necessary for equipment operation and maintenance tasks.
- Must be able to safely operate forklifts and wear a seatbelt during operation in accordance with OSHA regulations.
- Comfortable working at heights when required.
