Redwood Credit Union is looking for an AI Development Intern in their
Junior or Senior year. This internship opportunity in IT will support the team in designing, building, implementing, and improving AI-based tools and processes across the organization. This is a learning-focused role where the intern will work with guidance from experienced team members to explore AI capabilities and help identify ways to improve efficiency, processes, and Member or team member experiences.
Internship Details
- This position is for a full-time, seasonal internship – 40 hours per week.
- This internship will begin on, June 8, 2026, and end on August 14, 2026 (end date can be modified based on fall college schedule).
- Ability to provide a recent transcript will be required during the interview process.
- This position is not eligible for benefits other than what’s required by law.
Preferred Majors
Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field with coursework or projects in programming, analytics, or AI/ML.
Requirements
- Ability and desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic programming experience through coursework or projects.
- Exposure to working with data (e.g., Excel and/or basic SQL) and an interest in learning data preparation and analysis.
- Interest in AI and automation, with willingness to learn new tools quickly.
- Strong communication skills and ability to document work clearly (notes, steps taken, and results).
- Ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Experience with projects including programming, LLMs, APIs, or similar.
- Must be a Junior or Senior in college with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
Compensation
$23/hourly

Responsibilities
- Support the team in designing, building, implementing, and improving AI-based tools and processes across the organization.
- Learn and experiment with modern AI tools and techniques (e.g., chat-based AI, prompt writing, and retrieval-based approaches) and share ideas with the team.
- Help prototype and test AI ideas, including organizing sample data and doing basic checks of accuracy and usefulness.
- Assist in gathering requirements by talking with business and technical partners to understand workflows and where AI may help.
- Support basic integration tasks for AI solutions under guidance (e.g., using APIs, simple automations, or internal tools).
- Help document what was built and learned (notes, instructions, and simple user guidance).
- Follow data privacy and security guidelines and ask questions if something seems unclear or risky.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist, and turn.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
- Work environment is indoors; majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.
