Rivers Health is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse. Provides patient care based on the nursing process and interdisciplinary collaboration.
1. Performs initial assessment of patient.
- Formulates a plan of care and nursing diagnosis based on the assessment. Considers emotional and spiritual as well as physical health.
- Assumes responsibility and accountability for overall quality of patient care.
- Ensures patient care is given according to the proficiency level of personnel while retaining accountability for duties delegated.
- Respects patient privacy rights and values of individual patients and provides care accordingly.
- Provides guidance to all personnel in their respective duties.
- Ensures cleaning, stocking, and quality control duties are accomplished.
- Ensures equipment needed to provide quality care is available. Ensures any malfunctioning equipment is labeled appropriately and sent to Biomed.
- Performs on-going nursing assessments. Utilizes assessment data to plan, revise, and update patient plan of care.
- Participates in on-going evaluation of employees.
- Keeps Unit Coordinator/Supervisor, Patient Care Supervisors and/or Risk Manager apprised of special concerns regarding quality, cost effective care, and risk management issues.
- Completes all annual competencies.
- Performs other duties that may be assigned.
- Complies with Corporate Policies, Departmental Policies and Procedures and Personnel Employee Handbook.
- Performs nursing care in a safe and timely manner according to hospital policies, procedures, and philosophy.
- Accurate documentation of care.
- Provides patient education and discharge planning in collaboration with other disciplines.
- Assists with orientation of new employees.
- Assures emergency equipment and supplies are available.
- Assumes responsibility for safe-guarding medications and narcotics. Safely administers medications with appropriate monitoring.
- Must be able to cross-train to other units.
- Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills.
- Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration. Participates in unit meetings.
- Participates in quality improvement activities including serving on quality improvement teams.
Qualifications
Graduate of a school of nursing with current WV license. BCLS required. PALS and ACLS preferred or obtainable within six (6) months.
One (1) year nursing experience preferred in area assigned.
