Job Description
We are seeking a Lab & Infrastructure Operations Technician to manage and maintain physical and virtual lab environments, support system provisioning and recovery, and partner with lab owners and engineering teams to ensure reliable, well‑governed lab operations.
Lab & Infrastructure Operations
- Manage, maintain, and organize physical and virtual lab environments to ensure availability, reliability, and readiness
- Track and manage lab inventory, including systems, hardware, firmware levels, and peripherals
- Perform regular health checks and preventive maintenance on lab machines and supporting infrastructure
- Provision and configure lab systems, including operating system installation, software setup, and environment readiness
- Execute system, device, server, and firmware recovery activities following failures or maintenance
- Plan and coordinate BIOS, RAID, and firmware upgrades across lab systems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, operating system, virtualization, and infrastructure‑level issues
- Develop and maintain lightweight automation or scripts to assist with lab setup, maintenance, recovery, and inventory tasks
- Coordinate with hardware and software vendors as needed to resolve lab or system issues
- Track operational tasks and incidents using an issue‑management or ticketing system
- Communicate lab status, issues, and changes through clear written updates and documentation
- Debug and troubleshoot lab network issues, including routing, switching, VLANs, and firewall connectivity
- Partner with networking and IT teams to resolve complex or cross‑team connectivity problems
- Support lab owners with day‑to‑day network‑related operational issues
Lab Governance & Operational Excellence
- Drive on‑the‑ground implementation and enforcement of lab governance standards and operational policies
- Partner with lab owners to ensure consistent adherence to lab usage, access, maintenance, and lifecycle guidelines
- Identify gaps or inefficiencies in lab operations and proactively recommend process or policy improvements
- Create, maintain, and improve operational, implementation, and troubleshooting documentation to enable self‑service and consistent lab operations
Qualifications
- Hands‑on experience managing physical and/or virtual lab or infrastructure environments
- Strong experience with operating system installation and system administration (Windows and/or Linux)
- Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware, firmware, virtualization, and network‑related lab issues
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, VLANs, and firewalls
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper‑V, Proxmox, or similar platforms
- Basic scripting or automation experience (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python)
- Strong documentation, communication, and cross‑team collaboration skills
