Nordic Analytics Inc is building an institutional intelligence platform for private capital, and they are seeking a Backend Engineer to join the founding engineering team. This role involves building and maintaining backend systems that handle real financial data for institutional users, focusing on creating foundational infrastructure for the product.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain backend API services in Node.js that power the platform's core functionality
- Develop data ingestion pipelines for importing portfolio and fund data from CSV, Excel, and external sources
- Contribute to database schema design for fund administration, portfolio monitoring, and reporting modules
- Implement authentication logic and support the role-based access control (RBAC) layer
- Build backend integrations for third-party data sources and export functionality
- Write clean, documented backend code with appropriate error handling and logging
- Support the audit trail and activity logging infrastructure required for institutional compliance
Requirements:
- Node.js development experience with RESTful API design patterns
- Understanding of relational databases: schema design, queries, and data modeling
- Familiarity with authentication systems (JWT, OAuth, session management)
- Ability to write backend logic that handles real data with appropriate validation and error handling
- Basic understanding of data pipelines and file-based data ingestion (CSV/Excel processing)
- PostgreSQL, Docker, cloud infrastructure, event-driven patterns, and financial data integrations
- Interest in fintech, private equity, or capital markets
- Experience working in a team environment using Git workflows (branching, pull requests, code review)
- Familiarity with testing frameworks or writing unit/integration tests
