Plasser American is a leader in innovative solutions for the North American railway industry, and they are seeking a highly skilled Fluid Power Engineer to support their Engineering group. The role involves designing, testing, and troubleshooting hydraulic systems to enhance the performance and safety of maintenance equipment used in the railroad industry.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop hydraulic and pneumatic systems for maintenance of way equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications
- Apply fundamental and advanced fluid power principles to create innovative solutions for complex engineering challenges
- Complete system sizing, component selection, and provide detailed specifications to the planning and purchasing departments
- Use EPLAN Fluid for automated circuit design and documentation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards
- Analyze operational, test, and research data to establish performance benchmarks and improve existing systems
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate hydraulic and pneumatic projects to meet project deadlines and budget constraints
- Supervise detailed design and drafting activities with CAD designers, ensuring technical accuracy and quality
- Develop experimental test programs, analyze test results, and report findings to support product development and validation
- Travel to customer sites as needed to evaluate system issues, gather data, and provide technical support
- Stay informed of the latest advancements in fluid power technologies and incorporate best practices into design processes
- Collaborate with other departments, including product line, production, technical support, and sales, to deliver integrated solutions
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline
- Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in mobile hydraulic design
- Experience in product design or development of hydraulic components or motion control systems
- Proficiency with engineering design software such as EPLAN Fluid, Inventor, AutoCAD
- Familiarity with standards like ISO 1219
- Strong communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills

- Ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Certification as a fluid power hydraulic specialist (CFHPS), NFPA, or other recognized fluid power organization
