KORE is a leader in IoT connectivity solutions, and they are seeking a Senior Manager for their SIM Engineering team. This role involves leading the global SIM engineering organization, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality SIM products while fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a global team of SIM engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability
- Define team goals, set clear performance metrics, and drive professional development through regular feedback and coaching
- Allocate resources and prioritize initiatives to meet business objectives on time and within budget
- Oversee the entire SIM lifecycle—from design and development to testing and optimization—using feedback from the field to guide improvements
- Ensure all SIM designs meet KORE’s specifications and industry standards for reliability, security, and interoperability
- Oversee quality assurance processes and drive continuous improvement in SIM engineering practices
- Partner with Product Management to introduce new technologies (e.g., SGP.32, iSIM, eUICC) and oversee pilot programs, testing, and certifications with vendors
- Build and maintain strong relationships with global SIM manufacturers and technology partners
- Negotiate and manage vendor contracts, focusing on compliance with service-level agreements (SLAs) and quality metrics
- Monitor vendor performance, resolve escalations, and implement corrective actions when needed
- Collaborate with Pre-Sales, Sales, and Network Engineering teams to support customer needs and ensure successful go-to-market execution
- Provide executive-level updates on project status, risks, and mitigation plans
- Serve as the senior subject-matter expert on SIM technologies for both internal and external stakeholders
- Drive innovation in SIM technology, exploring and implementing next-generation features and security enhancements
- Lead root cause analysis for complex SIM-related issues and translate findings into long-term product and process improvements
- Contribute to KORE’s technical strategy and represent the company in key industry forums and standards bodies when required
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Proven experience building and leading high-performing technical teams
- Strong background in SIM architectures, SIM applets (e.g., Multi-IMSI), key management, cryptographic functions, and secure element technologies
- Deep understanding of authentication algorithms (Milenage), cryptographic algorithms (3DES, AES, RSA, ECC), and key ceremony processes
- Experience with vendor and contract management, including negotiations and SLA enforcement
- Hands-on knowledge of network monitoring and diagnostic tools (Wireshark /PCAP, Netscout, Comprion, QXDM, AT commands)
- Solid understanding of 2G/3G/4G/5G network architecture, OTA (SCP02, 80/81), and Remote SIM Provisioning (RSP)
- Familiarity with standards: 3GPP 31.111/31.102, ISO 7816, ETSI 102 221/223/671, GSMA SGP 02/22
- Excellent organizational, communication, and executive reporting skills
- Ability to manage multiple high-impact projects in a fast-paced, global environment
- Detailed understanding of core network design (Layer 4+)
- IoT module test / development experience (IE Quectel , ublox , Telit)
- IoT device firmware development / test experience (IE Teltonika , customer specific)
- Experience with software development using Java, C and/or Python, SIM APDU / applet development / test experience
