Court Operations Supervisor, Scheduling/Interpreter Team, Hennepin County

Description 

Hennepin County District Court invites qualified applicants for a Court Operations Supervisor position in the Scheduling/Interpreter Division of Court Administration.    

Under the general supervision of the Court Operations Manager, this highly responsible, supervisory role guides technical work involving daily scheduling and interpreter operations for a high-volume trial court in the Minnesota State Court System. This position is responsible for oversight of resource needs such as courtrooms, chambers and interpreters and works closely with judges, court staff, court offices, the public, and county and/or state agencies to ensure language services are provided and cases are processed in a timely and accurate manner.  

This position supervises a team of four calendar clerks, one leadworker, and eight staff interpreters, performing a variety of advanced clerical functions. This work requires the application of independent judgment and decision-making regarding scheduling and interpreter policies and procedures, court rules, and statutes.  

This position is located on the C-24th floor of the Hennepin County Government Center at 300 S. 6th St Minneapolis, MN 55487. This is a highly visible position with typical hours from 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday, and occasional remote work opportunities. Hours and remote work will vary with business need. In order to work remotely, access to a reliable internet connection is required. Infrequent travel within the Twin Cities or greater Minnesota may be required. 

Example of Duties 

• Plan, coordinate, supervise and review the functions and daily operations of personnel in the Scheduling/Interpreters Unit. Ensure timely delivery of services to meet court needs.  
• Analyze work processes and streamline procedures to accomplish the mission of the court. Oversee implementation of new/revised policies and procedures in the division. 
• Prepare and analyze reports to drive day-to-day activities and allocate resources. 
• Hire, supervise, coach, mentor, develop and evaluate the performance of staff according to set standards; act as an effective role model to staff in all areas; work with Leadworker to develop orientation for new hires, training plans, and reference documentation for employees. Establish clear expectations, monitor workload, and set schedules. 
• Respond to and manage day-to-day issues brought by judicial officers, staff and related county and/or state agencies.   
• Answer inquiries relating to the policy and procedures of the court. Educate partners on policies and court practices.  
• Represent the Fourth District on district and statewide committees and workgroups.

Typical Qualifications 

Minimum Education and Experience 

Below are the past experiences that will enable success in the role. For education requirements listed, the equivalent number of years of related experience may serve as a substitute. 

• High school diploma 
• Two years of experience in a court/legal environment, or other fast-paced, high-volume, and technology-dependent environment 
• Experience leading others, such as a Leadworker, project management role, team lead, or supervisor 
• Access to a reliable internet connection is required when working remotely. 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

• Ability to train, motivate, coach, and mentor and supervise support staff 
• Skill in organization, planning, prioritization and follow through, with the ability to supervise the work of others to meet the needs/goals of team 
• Ability to promote customer service, establish and maintain effective positive working relationships maintain a professional and provide positive leadership through challenging circumstances  
• Ability to make sound independent decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, and departmental policies and procedures 
• Proficient skill with software applications and adaptable to new technology  
• Skill in communicating effectively, both in writing and verbally, with customers throughout the organization and members of the public 
• Ability to manage competing demands simultaneously, with a very high attention to detail 
• Ability to analyze and interpret data and make recommendations based on analysis 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Associate's degree in a Business or Criminal Justice related field  
• Advanced customer service delivery experience, including professional communication with top leaders, elected officials, and professional staff 
• General understanding of principles and practices of court proceedings, applicable statutes and rules and record management 
• Experience researching and analyzing problems, putting effective changes into practice, measuring performance and ensuring compliance 
• Experience working with the Minnesota case management system (MNCIS), scheduling software, service request systems, and invoicing systems 

Supplemental Information 

The anticipated starting salary range for external candidates is $34.40 (range minimum) - $43.83 (range midpoint) per hour ($71,827.00 - $91,517.00 annually). 
 
The full salary range for this position is $34.40 (range minimum)- $53.25 (range maximum) per hour ($71,827 - $111,186 annually). This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of MN employee benefits.
