System One is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support their client's Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) design engineering organization. The role involves generating technical requirements, preparing engineering specifications, and collaborating across teams to ensure cohesive system integration for modular advanced light water reactors.
Responsibilities:
- Support the NSSS design engineering organization by generating technical requirements and design parameters for modular advanced light water reactors (ALWR)
- Prepare and review engineering specifications, reports, and documentation related to NSSS components, systems, and structures
- Maintain and revise CAD models using Siemens NX and develop engineering drawings following ASME Y14 standards
- Utilize BPVC Section III evaluations to optimize component designs
- Collaborate across teams and engage in engineering change control processes to communicate design decisions effectively
- Review and assess the work of other groups to ensure cohesive system integration
- Engage in discussions with manufacturing partners to maintain design integrity during fabrication
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
- B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, from an ABET accredited college or university
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant full-time engineering experience
- Extensive knowledge of engineering design, including familiarity with engineering drawings per ASME Y14 standards
- Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810
- Professional engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred
- Design experience with commercial nuclear components or BPVC Section III is highly desirable
- Experience with ASME Design Specification Certification is advantageous
- Familiarity with stress engineering analysis (design by analysis methodology) is preferred
