Senior Mobile Engineer (React Native)

GBH is a company that focuses on creating impactful digital experiences. They are seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer to design, implement, and optimize product features, particularly using React Native, while ensuring high-quality performance and scalability of mobile applications.

Responsibilities:

• Own development of new React Native features, including multiple new screens and workflows
• Help drive the Android version of an existing iOS React Native app, including porting iOS-specific implementations to Android equivalents
• Integrate mobile features with APIs, and when needed, propose or implement API changes in collaboration with the team
• Review the current codebase and validate architectural assumptions, identifying risks and improvement opportunities
• Improve reliability and performance for core app flows, including video streaming / room feeds

Requirements:

• Strong senior-level React Native experience
• Proven ability to design and maintain mobile architecture (structure, scalability, performance, maintainability)
• Solid experience with API integrations from mobile apps
• Familiarity with push notifications in the Google ecosystem (Firebase/FCM or similar)
• Comfortable assessing an existing codebase and 'pressure testing' it (architecture review, quality, performance)
• Excellent communication in a remote/hybrid setup
• Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity and medium-detail requirements
• Strong judgment: knows when to make a call and when to escalate or ask for input
• Comfortable using AI tools (team uses Claude) to move faster while keeping quality high
• Experience publishing to Apple App Store and/or Google Play (helpful, not required)
• Experience with streaming video in mobile apps
• Some familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript-heavy environments (backend is TypeScript)
