1. Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluations to identify behavioral health concerns, mental health diagnoses, and psychosocial stressors.
- Utilize standardized assessment tools and diagnostic criteria (e.g., DSM-5) to inform treatment recommendations.
- Evaluate client readiness for treatment and identify potential barriers to engagement.
2. Treatment Planning & Therapy
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on client needs, goals, and evidence-based practices.
- Provide psychotherapy services, including individual, group, family, and/or couples counseling.
- Modify treatment plans based on ongoing assessment, client feedback, and clinical outcomes.
- Utilize various therapeutic approaches such as CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, trauma-informed care, and motivational interviewing.
3. Crisis Intervention & Risk Management
- Identify and respond to clients in acute distress or exhibiting signs of crisis.
- Conduct suicide risk assessments and develop safety plans when indicated.
- Coordinate emergency interventions, referrals, or hospitalizations as necessary to ensure client safety.
4. Care Coordination & Collaboration
- Collaborate with medical providers, psychiatrists, case managers, and other care team members to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to treatment.
- Refer clients to appropriate internal or external resources for additional support, such as substance use treatment, housing services, or financial assistance.
- Advocate for clients’ access to care and services in a culturally competent and trauma-informed manner.
5. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in compliance with organizational policies and payer requirements.
- Document clinical services, treatment plans, client progress, and communications in accordance with HIPAA, state, and federal guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with all licensures, ethical, and legal standards set by the Iowa Board of Behavioral Science and applicable accrediting bodies.
6. Professional Development & Quality Improvement
- Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain licensure and stay informed on current best practices and regulatory changes.
- Attend and contribute to regular clinical team meetings, case consultations, and supervision sessions.
- Support organizational performance improvement efforts, data collection initiatives, and outcome measurement programs.
7. Community Engagement & Education (as applicable)
- Participate in community outreach events, mental health education, or workshops as requested.
- Represent the clinic in a professional manner to community partners, referral sources, and stakeholders.
- Support stigma reduction efforts and promote mental wellness in the broader community.
