About this role
IMI Industrial has been providing millwright and fabrication services since 1986, and they are seeking a Mechanical Engineer. This role involves designing and developing innovative equipment while collaborating with various teams to ensure product functionality and manufacturability.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and enhance new and existing products/product lines
- Analyze market trends, customer requirements, and feedback to develop product concepts in 3D CAD
- Evaluate and recommend specifications and ensure products meet the technical and functional requirements
- Recommend and follow reliable, efficient, and cost-effective procedures
- Create technical drawings and designs that are manufacturable and provide installation drawings and supporting documentation for easy installation in the field
- Perform feasibility, functional, and quality testing of designs
- Work closely with other engineers to align designs with production capabilities and compliance standards and ensure project milestones and timelines are met
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience required
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, communication, and people skills
- Attention to detail and value accuracy and professional integrity
- Skilled communicator, both verbal and written with the ability to protect confidential and sensitive employee information
- Ability to manage and execute on multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities
- Drive to further build and develop the engineering processes as we continue to evolve
- 5+ years of related product design experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in 3D CAD software, as well as PDM Software, preferably AutoDesk Inventor and AutoDesk Vault
- Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and production techniques, specifically in steel and sheet metal manufacturing environments
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to accommodate periodic weekend or evening work when expected
