SUSE is a global leader in innovative open source solutions, and they are seeking a Field Product Manager for their Edge Business Unit. This role involves shaping the strategic direction of edge infrastructure solutions and collaborating with various stakeholders to meet customer needs in complex technical environments.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the edge technical strategy and edge technology roadmaps for mission critical, large-scale, edge infrastructure deployments. Identify challenges and technical interdependencies and suggest solutions to address them
- Track upstream open-source projects and competitive industry products to identify and evaluate relevant developments and features
- Collaborate with edge product management to properly position edge products and solutions
- Provide a point of escalation for consulting, presales, and product teams facing extremely complex technical challenges
- Represent the edge business unit with strategic customer engagements and initiatives. Share edge technology strategy and edge technology roadmaps and utilize customer input to shape future edge technology strategy and direction
- Communicate the edge technical strategy and edge technology roadmaps to industry partners and customers; leverages recognized technical and business expertise to influence, guide, and shape business strategy and decision-making at the highest organizational levels
- Present at relevant events (e.g., conferences, user groups, meetups, webinars)
- Communicate regularly via blogs, social media, and presentations
- Provide consultation, design input, and feedback into infrastructure product development and design reviews across SUSE business units and across SUSE product lines
- Build technology and organizational bridges to key organizational partners
- Achieve a wide sphere of influence and provide a measurable impact on the development work of product teams across SUSE
Requirements:
- Bachelor's, Master's or PHD degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
- 10+ years of experience
- Experience with both Linux and containers/micro-services architectures
- Familiarity with telematics and sensor data acquisition and aggregation
- Experience with infrastructure components like (but not limited to): Kubernetes, Linux, OpenStack, AWS, Azure, Rancher, Ansible, Terraform, Akraino, etc
- A strong background in working with open-source community projects
- Demonstrated ability to lead by influence and a track record of successful delivery of large-scale, complex software systems
- The ability to synthesize and simplify complex needs such as business capability, operational efficiency, regulatory or security considerations into architecture and system design
- Proven ability to interact with technical people at all levels and work closely with product management
- Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at the most senior organizational levels
- Validated ability to quickly grasp and evaluate new ideas and technologies from internal and external sources and match them with appropriate technology and business problems to yield pragmatic innovation
- Have the right blend of diplomacy and decisiveness to constantly balance constraints and resources, as well as juggle priorities and tasks
- Ability to thrive in a fully remote organization
