JOB SUMMARY
Performs occupational therapy evaluation and treatments on both in and outpatients. Develops, coordinates, implements, and modifies individualized treatment goals and plans. Oversees and collaborates with COTA’s Use of therapeutic occupations including everyday life activities to promote health, wellness prevent injury or disability, improve and develop self dependency and maintenance, productivity, leisure, rest, mental, cognitive physical, sensory-perceptual, psychosocial developmental, and emotional well being in a variety of contexts and environments to support engagement in occupations that affect physical and mental health, well-being, and quality of life.
Education: Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy. Masters or Doctorate degree preferred.
Experience: New graduate eligible for temporary CT state license. One (1) year experience in acute care or OP Occupational Therapy setting preferred.
License and Certification: License to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the state of CT and Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT®). CPR certification required. CHT certification preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use). Demonstrated ability to, work with patients on an individual or group basis, work effectively with an interdisciplinary team. : Working knowledge of Sate Practice Act and Federal Medicaid and Medicare regulations. Works efficiently and organizes time appropriately. Ability to prioritize daily work assignments. Must be organized, flexible, a team player and able to work efficiently in a hectic environment. Proficient skills in windows based software (including word processing, database, spreadsheet and presentation programs). Requires the ability to prioritize daily work assignments.
PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING
Requires the ability to exercise discretion and use good judgment to perform duties promptly and consistently with little direction. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times. Requires high level of analytical ability in order to gather and interpret information from various sources. Able to take appropriate actions in response to changes, circumstances ability concerning the daily activities of the position. Excellent ability to problem solve.
