Novellia is the first and only company that lets anyone in the US gain access to nearly a decade of their health data in under 30 seconds, 100% free. They are seeking a talented and experienced Mobile Engineer to join their dynamic team, playing a key role in shaping the app that serves as the primary touchpoint for millions of patients accessing and understanding their health data.
Responsibilities:
- Own and evolve our React Native application across both iOS and Android platforms
- Build intuitive, performant, and accessible UI components and patient-facing features that make complex health data easy to understand and act on
- Collaborate closely with backend, design, and web frontend teams to deliver seamless, data-rich user experiences
- Take ownership of end-to-end feature development, from conception through deployment and ongoing maintenance
- Integrate Graphql APIs and real-time data streams to keep patient health records current and responsive
- Implement best practices for mobile performance, offline support, and secure handling of sensitive health data
- Instrument the app with observability tooling — crash reporting, analytics, and performance monitoring — to surface insights and enable rapid iteration
- Work closely with product owners and designers to translate requirements into pixel-perfect, accessible interfaces
- Stay current with the React Native ecosystem, mobile platform changes, and trends in healthcare UX
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent
- 4+ years of mobile development experience, with at least 3 years in React Native
- Deep familiarity with the React Native ecosystem, including navigation, state management (e.g., Redux, Zustand), and native module bridging
- Solid understanding of iOS and Android platform differences and how to navigate them in a cross-platform codebase
- Experience integrating and consuming RESTful APIs and handling complex data models on the client
- Strong grasp of mobile performance optimization, memory management, and debugging tools
- Experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines and app store release processes (App Store & Google Play)
- A history of delivery on high-impact organizational projects
- Minimum of 2 years in a startup environment
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Passion for product development and a willingness to take initiative and ownership of projects
- Commitment to following best practices and standards for software development

- Experience with TypeScript in a React Native context
- Familiarity with secure storage, biometric authentication, and mobile security best practices for sensitive data
- Experience with health or wellness consumer apps
- Familiarity with FHIR and healthcare interoperability standards
- Comfort working with native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) code when bridging is required
- Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG) and building inclusive mobile experiences
