General Motors is a leader in automotive innovation focused on creating a safer, smarter, and more connected future. They are seeking a Staff Product Manager for Logging and Offload, responsible for defining and driving the data logging and offload strategy for autonomous vehicles, leading cross-functional teams to design scalable systems, and ensuring alignment with engineering and operational goals.
Responsibilities:
- Own the long-term product vision and roadmap for logging and offload systems across GM’s autonomous vehicle platform, balancing engineering constraints, business needs, and data fidelity requirements
- Define strategies for what data is captured on-vehicle, when and why it’s logged, and how it’s prioritized and offloaded at scale across millions of vehicles
- Lead cross-functional efforts across Software Engineering, Infrastructure, Operations, Autonomy, and Data teams to build robust, scalable systems that enable efficient data collection and retrieval
- Act as the voice of autonomy and infrastructure customers, ensuring that data logging strategies support real-world development, evaluation, and fleet operations goals
- Translate evolving product, regulatory, and engineering needs into clear logging policies, on-vehicle configurations, and offload strategies that scale with fleet complexity
- Proactively identify gaps and tradeoffs in system performance, data throughput, and fleet availability, and lead initiatives to improve observability, efficiency, and control
- Drive a metrics-driven approach to decision-making by defining KPIs for logging effectiveness, offload success, and campaign impact, and using data to guide prioritization
Requirements:
- 5+ years product management experience
- Proven ability to balance tradeoffs between consumer needs and expectations, legal and regulatory requirements, and business objectives
- Experience developing solutions to hard problems with many constraints, using sound judgement to assess risks, and to lay out your argument in a well-structured, data-informed, written narrative
- Demonstrated expertise in writing, with the ability to effectively balance and integrate regulatory, privacy, and engineering user perspectives to ensure clear requirements for data logging
- Ability to identify key data and metrics required to make decisions and implications of their movement
- Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to all stakeholders
- Demonstrated expertise in writing, with the ability to effectively balance and integrate vision, strategy, and technical details in a cohesive narrative
- Experience managing robotics, AI, embedded systems, and/or data-heavy products
- Relevant educational background in a technical field
