About this role
Paxos is on a mission to open the world’s financial system to everyone by enabling the instant movement of any asset, any time, in a trustworthy way. As a Senior Engineer on the Custody team, you will play a key role in architecting, building, and maintaining Paxos’ crypto custody infrastructure and applications, collaborating closely across functions to help shape technological direction and execute complex projects.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain mission-critical custody systems across multiple blockchains
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, compliance, and infrastructure to define system architecture and technical requirements
- Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of our services through best practices in software design, testing, and deployment
- Optimize existing issuance infrastructure to enhance performance, reduce latency, and improve operational efficiency
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
- Stay informed about emerging trends in blockchain, distributed systems, security, and financial technology to drive innovation within the team
- Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical decision-making processes
Requirements:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in fast-paced, high-growth environments
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Golang or Java preferred; Kotlin, Rust, Python, or C++ also valued.)
- Solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed system design
- Experience building and maintaining cloud-native services using tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, and AWS
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, especially in production environments
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities; able to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Experience working on high-throughput, low-latency systems, trading infrastructure, cryptography, or custody platforms is a strong plus
- A passion for innovation and driving technical solutions to real-world problems
