Boulevard is a client experience platform designed for appointment-based self-care businesses. The Product Design Manager will lead a team of designers, set the vision for platform design, and ensure the platform evolves cohesively to meet complex customer needs.
Responsibilities:
- Set the vision and direction for platform design in close partnership with Product and Engineering leaders. Define clear outcomes and ensure work supports long-term company goals
- Manage and mentor a team of product designers. Provide regular feedback, support career development, and help the team operate with clarity and focus
- Guide the design of foundational concepts, patterns, and frameworks that enable scalability, flexibility, and extensibility across Boulevard’s ecosystem
- Help evolve the platform to support: Upmarket customers with complex workflows, permissions, and operational needs. Multi-location businesses that require centralized control and local flexibility. International expansion, including localization, regional requirements, and scalable global patterns
- Ensure highly complex technical and system-level problems translate into clear, intuitive, and trustworthy user experiences
- Partner closely with Engineering to ensure design intent is preserved in production and that platform decisions are durable
- Raise the quality bar across the team by improving critique, design standards, documentation, and collaboration practices
- Collaborate with other design leaders to evolve Boulevard’s design system so it supports increasing platform complexity and future growth
- Push the boundaries of what’s possible using AI-powered tooling, including MCPs, Figma Make, Claude, and other emerging systems that amplify speed and quality
Requirements:
- Experience managing and developing product designers, including performance feedback, coaching, hiring, and elevating the team's bar
- Strong design craft across visual, interaction, and UX, with a focus on clarity, utility, delight
- Strong systems thinking and comfort designing for scale and long-term evolution rather than one-off solutions
- Deep understanding of the full product lifecycle, from discovery and research through high-fidelity execution and delivery
- Proven ability to partner closely with Product and Engineering on technically complex initiatives
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and helping teams find clarity in fast-moving environments
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on guidance when the work requires it
- A strong point of view paired with openness to feedback and iteration
- Fluency in Figma, design systems, and emerging tools like Pencil / Cursor
- Clear, compelling storytelling, able to communicate the strategic why, not just the design
