Health Emergency Initiative is a leading organization focused on ensuring vulnerable Nigerians have access to emergency healthcare. The Volunteer Storyteller will develop compelling narratives and visibility campaigns to enhance HEI's brand awareness and support fundraising efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Curate and document compelling impact stories from HEI’s 10+ years of intervention across 16+ states
- Develop structured storytelling assets (case studies, testimonials, short-form narratives, campaign briefs)
- Translate program data (50,000+ beneficiaries, 147,500+ first responders trained, 82%+ survival rate) into emotionally compelling and data-driven narratives
- Design and support periodic digital visibility campaigns highlighting HEI’s impact and governance credibility
- Develop messaging frameworks that emphasise transparency, accountability, and measurable outcomes
- Support multi-platform dissemination (LinkedIn, email campaigns, digital newsletters, website optimisation, etc.)
- Align storytelling outputs with donation funnels for ongoing campaigns, including: GlobalGiving, Every.org, Other digital fundraising channels
- Create persuasive call-to-action materials that encourage donations, subscriptions, and recurring giving
- Identify and engage celebrities, sports personalities, brand ambassadors, and philanthropists for endorsements
- Develop briefing materials to support ambassador onboarding and brand advocacy
- Contribute to positioning HEI as a trusted partner for global institutions, corporations, fintech companies, and grant-making bodies
Requirements:
- Fluency in written and spoken English (mandatory) with exceptional storytelling and persuasive writing ability
- Demonstrated capacity to craft compelling impact narratives, donor communications, campaign copy, and executive-level briefs
- Strong presentation and interpersonal communication skills suitable for engaging celebrities, corporate executives, philanthropists, and institutional stakeholders
- Proficiency in additional international languages (e.g., French) is an advantage for global partnership engagement
- Proven experience in impact storytelling, brand messaging, or development communications, preferably within the non-profit, humanitarian, healthcare, or social enterprise sectors
- Ability to translate programme data (impact metrics, survival rates, beneficiary statistics) into emotionally compelling and data-driven narratives
- Experience producing structured content such as case studies, testimonials, donor briefs, newsletters, website content, and campaign toolkits
- Demonstrated experience supporting digital fundraising, crowdfunding campaigns, or donor acquisition strategies
- Familiarity with platforms such as GlobalGiving, Every.org, GoFundMe, or similar digital donation ecosystems is desirable
- Understanding of donor conversion funnels, recurring giving strategies, and donor retention mechanisms
- Experience in brand positioning, digital marketing, or visibility campaigns, including LinkedIn, email marketing, and multi-channel engagement
- Ability to develop messaging frameworks that highlight governance strength, transparency, and measurable impact
- Understanding of how to create 'top-of-mind' visibility for mission-driven organisations
- Demonstrated ability to identify and engage celebrities, sports personalities, brand ambassadors, philanthropists, and institutional partners
- Experience preparing partnership briefs, ambassador onboarding materials, or sponsorship decks
- Strong networking capability and relationship-building skills
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent professional experience)
- Strong alignment with humanitarian and child survival causes
- Results-oriented, creative, and self-driven
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and sensitivity when handling beneficiary stories
- Ability to work remotely with structured targets and measurable deliverables
