The Related Group and Related Urban Construction are actively seeking a Chief Estimator with 5+ years of experience.
Duties:
- Lead, manage, and mentor across multiple projects and phases of development.
- Oversee operations including budgeting, scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
- Establish and implement standardized estimating procedures, metrics, and tools to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Create and manage weekly bid schedules, delegating assignments and overseeing quality control.
- Represent the estimating department in executive-level meetings and collaborate with senior leadership on strategic initiatives.
- Prepare and review accurate, detailed cost estimates for all phases of multifamily and mixed-use development, including materials, labor, equipment, subcontractor work, and indirect costs.
- Collaborate with project management, design, and development teams to analyze project plans and specifications.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and implement value engineering solutions to optimize project cost without sacrificing quality or design intent.
- Lead procurement strategy by preparing comprehensive bid packages and ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate and complete.
- Assist in the development of pre-construction budgets and work closely with finance and development teams to ensure alignment with pro forma and funding requirements.
- Maintain and leverage historical cost databases and benchmarking tools to support cost forecasting and future planning.
- Clearly present cost analysis, recommendations, and assumptions to internal stakeholders including senior executives, developers, and project teams.
- Participate in project meetings and decision-making forums, providing expert insight on cost-related considerations.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field plus five (5) years of experience in construction estimating. Specifically, five (5) years of experience must include:
- Construction materials, methods, and project execution strategies, especially in multifamily housing;
- Bluebeam;
- ProEst;
- RSMeans; and
- Work with local building codes, zoning regulations, and permit processes.
