NGEN Mission Critical is a global operation focused on critical power and thermal infrastructure solutions. They are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to oversee the engineering execution of thermal products for data centers, ensuring that designs are manufacturable and validated through rigorous testing.
Responsibilities:
- Own mechanical design review and product definition for NGEN thermal product families (skids, enclosures, piping packages, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, sensors, and service access)
- Translate customer and site requirements into mechanical requirements (performance envelopes, operating conditions, maintainability, and installation boundaries)
- Drive design-for-manufacture and design-for-service decisions (service access, replacement pathways, lifting and rigging constraints, and shipping requirements)
- Define thermal performance requirements and acceptance criteria (capacity, approach temperatures, flow and pressure curves, and controls interactions)
- Build and maintain validation plans covering component tests, subsystem tests, and integrated skid testing
- Participate in or coordinate FATs (ensure test evidence is captured, reviewed, and packaged into customer-ready documentation)
- Work directly with supplier engineering teams, including offshore OEM partners, to drive design iterations, BOM control, and manufacturing readiness
- Define build documentation and work instruction expectations (ensure as-built changes are captured and controlled)
- Drive corrective actions and closure when build or test outcomes miss requirements
- Produce and own mechanical documentation packages (drawings, assemblies, piping schematics, install guides, service manual inputs, and controlled release artifacts)
- Partner with controls engineering to ensure sensor and actuator integration and serviceability are clear and unambiguous
- Support engineering change control (impact assessments, test re-validation triggers, and document revision control)
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline (an advanced degree is a plus but not required)
- 6-10+ years of experience in mechanical product development for thermal, HVAC, or fluid systems (chillers, CDUs, CRAH/CRAC, heat exchangers, pumping systems, or similar industrial skid equipment)
- Demonstrated experience driving supplier-led development through prototype, test, and production readiness
- Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and mechanical design trade-offs
- Familiarity with piping system design (materials, joining methods, leak testing, filtration, and cleanliness expectations)
- Experience defining and witnessing factory acceptance testing (FAT) and packaging test evidence
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent CAD tools
- Strong technical writing and documentation discipline (requirements matrices, test plans, and commissioning-ready documentation inputs)
